The Colombian Bernal drove into a stationary bus at 60 km per hour in his hometown of Zipaquira, 50 km north of the capital Bogota.

He suffered a fracture in a vertebra, right femur, right kneecap, suffered a chest trauma and a punctured lung.

According to his own statement, there was a 95 percent risk that he would be disabled in connection with the accident.
