The steep slope in Adelboden was difficult to master for several skiers in the giant slalom's first run.

But Marco Odermatt from Switzerland mastered the home hill best and finished in a time of 1.17.94.

Which means that the 24-year-old leads the competition after the first run.

Alexis Pinturault from France is second, 31 percent behind.

Croatian Filip Zubcic is third.

Today's only Swede, Mattias Rönngren, started as the 31st skier.

The 28-year-old had just like several other problems on the slopes but he managed to finish in 18th place.

3.26 seconds behind the leader.

Rönngren finally finished in 20th place after the first run and is ready for the second.

Marco Odermatt also leads the overall cup and the giant slalom cup.

The second run starts at 13.30 and is broadcast on SVT1 / SVT Play.
