Eriksen resumes training in Denmark for the first time since suffering a heart attack

Denmark's international playmaker Christian Eriksen has resumed training for the first time since he was sidelined by a heart attack at the start of his country's matches in the last edition of the European Cup 2020 in football this summer, an official at Odense club said Thursday.

Eriksen (29 years old) is still officially linked with Italian Inter under a contract until 2024, and he is currently in Odense, where he started his football career and still owns a house.

Eriksen collapsed on June 12 in Copenhagen during Denmark's first match in the continental finals against Finland in Copenhagen, after suffering a heart attack.

The former Tottenham player needed resuscitation on the field before he could complete his recovery in hospital, where a pacemaker was installed inside his body.

"We are happy that he has asked us if he can resume training at Adalen," the team's training center, Michael Heimensen, sporting director of Odense, who plays in the Danish first division, told BT daily.

According to the newspaper, Eriksen trained since 8:00 (0700 GMT) on Wednesday under the supervision of a coach.

According to these sources, the midfielder focuses mainly on physical exercises, but also trains with the ball.

"We are very happy that Christian Eriksen is keeping fit on our courts these days," Heiminsen added.

On the other hand, Rasmus Naistgo, the club's communications director, told AFP that "Christian Eriksen is using the pitch to rehabilitate him," stressing that he "does not train with our team."
