The German show jumpers won silver at the European Championships in Riesenbeck, Westphalia.

After the disappointment at the Olympic Games in Tokyo with the penultimate place in the final, the team of national coach Otto Becker celebrated their medal on Friday.

The team, which started with three newcomers to the European Championship and veteran Marcus Ehning, was only behind Switzerland after a total of three rounds on three days.

The last European Championship gold for Germany was in 2011 in Madrid.

The best local rider before the individual final on Sunday is André Thieme from Plau am See, who is second with Chakaria. The first is defending champion Martin Fuchs from Switzerland with Leone Jei. Christian Kukuk from Riesenbeck with Mumbai is eighth. The German medal quartet also included David Will from Dagobertshausen with a C four.
