Belgium got off to a dream start when they took the lead in the tenth minute.

A pass to the side pulled the defense out of position which let Romelu Lukaku slip through on goal. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!

Lukaku then dedicated the goal to club mate Christian Eriksen with the phrase "Chris, I love you".

After the goal, Russia increased the tempo and they washed out a couple of half chances but without finding the goal.

In the 25th minute, Belgium's Timothy Castagne collided with the Russian Daler Kuzyaev.

After medical treatment, both players were replaced.

Thomas Meunier and Denis Cherychev came in.

With just over ten minutes left in the half, Belgium extended their lead.

And it was the substitute Meunier who easily put it 2-0 after taking advantage of a goalkeeper return.

Russia hunted

In the second half, Russia made several substitutions in the pursuit of a reduction.

But despite the occasional pressure on Belgium, they did not create any really hot goal chances.

Belgium also had a hard time coming to an end in a half that lacked the same energy as the first.

But at the end of the match, Lukaku flashed to once again when he put your 3-0.

Belgium then held off and won the match 3-0 after goals from Lukaku and Meunier.

- A demonstration of strength of Belgium, says SVT's expert Markus Johannesson.
