Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas set the first and second fastest time in the second free practice session for the Grand Prix of Spain on Friday.

Max Verstappen and his Red Bull teammate Sergio Pérez gave a lot to the Mercedes duo.

Hamilton set the fastest time in the afternoon session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with 1.18.170.

Bottas was slightly more than a tenth behind (1.18.309).

Verstappen finished ninth in 1.18.785.

The Dutchman was the only driver in the top ten to clock his fastest time on the medium band.

He broke off his only attempt for a fast lap on the softest tires after making a mistake in the final sector.

Pérez finished tenth with a fastest time of 1.18.918.

Verstappen finished second in the first practice earlier on Friday, just behind Bottas.
