A German team denies hiring a former Real Madrid star to train him

Press reports in Germany revealed that the former Real Madrid star and the Spain national team, Xabi Alonso, will not coach the German football team, Borussia Monchengladbach.

The website of the German magazine "Kicker" today stated that the 39-year-old Spanish coach is not the most prominent candidate for the sporting director of Gladbach, Max Eberl.

The German "Bild" and "Sport Bild" said yesterday that Alonso will train Gladbach in the new season, succeeding Marco Rosse, but after that they backed away from the alleged agreement between Gladbach and Alonso.

It should be noted that Roze plans to leave Gladbach to take over as coach of Borussia Dortmund next summer.

For his part, a spokesman for Gladbach said: "We will continue not to comment on the rumors."

Other media reports stated that Eberle is negotiating with Alonso and at least one other candidate, and an agreement is not expected in the short term.

According to Spanish media reports, Alonso, a former professional within the ranks of Bayern Munich, has many offers, but he is interested in taking over the coach of Gladbach.

Alonso has been coaching the second row team at Real Sociedad since 2019, after a busy career as a player that saw him crowned locally and in the European Champions League with Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, in addition to his crowning with the Spanish national team with the title of Euro 2008, Euro 2012 and 2010 World Cup.
