The 23-year-old stood for a very strong sprint in the World Cup yesterday and drove in second after full shooting and fastest time in the track.

Thus, he started second in the hunt start, four seconds behind Lukas Hofer.

Samuelsson quickly caught up with the Italian and went in at the same time as the competitor on the embankment before the first, horizontal shooter where Samuelsson shot full and took over the lead.

The strong wind that characterized the ladies' competition had calmed down somewhat for the men's race and before the start Samuelsson talked about the importance of accuracy and keeping track of the pennants.

Before the second shooter, lying down, the Swede led by 28 seconds - but then came the misses.

Samuelsson shot two booms and fell down to third place, after Hofer and Johannes Thingnes Bö, and in the third shot, two more booms came for the Swede who dropped to fourth, two seconds from the podium.

Before the fourth and final shot, Samuelsson came in as fifth, just before Martin Ponsiluoma and the second from the podium, but even there there were two barriers for "Sebbe" who saw the podium chance slip away.

He eventually finished fourth, around 19 seconds from the podium.

Ponsiluoma became the second best Swede in sixth place.

Norwegian Sturla Holm Laegreid won before compatriot Thingnes Bö and took over the lead in the overall World Cup.
