On March 16, Dynamo St. Petersburg defender Timur Fayzutdinov died in Yaroslavl.

The last few days, the athlete was in the intensive care unit of the N.V.

Solovyov after being hit in the head with a puck during the MHL playoffs.

In October 2020, the young hockey player turned 19 years old.

“Today the defender of MHC“ Dynamo St. Petersburg ”Timur Fayzutdinov has passed away.

The club expresses its condolences to the family and friends of Timur ... Forever at Dynamo.

Forever in our hearts, ”the team's press service said in a statement.

Faizutdinov was born in Chelyabinsk.

During the 2016/17 season, he transferred from the junior team for players under 16 years old local Traktor to Dynamo St. Petersburg.

Since 2017, he has played for the team from St. Petersburg in the MHL.

There, according to Elite Prospects, he played 191 matches and chalked up 19 points (0 + 19).

The club said that they intend to honor the memory of the athlete, in connection with which the quarterfinal meeting of the Higher Hockey League between the St. Petersburg Dynamo and the Oilman on March 16 began with a minute of silence.

Also, this ritual will precede the games of the JHL (March 16 and 17) and the KHL (March 17 and 18).

The fatal incident occurred during the Youth Hockey League playoff match between Lokomotiv and Dynamo.

At the beginning of the second period, the defender of the Yaroslavl team Dmitry Tyuvilin tried to throw the puck into the opponent's zone, but instead hit Fayzutdinov.

The captain of the Petersburgers grabbed his head and fell on the ice, after which he did not rise for several minutes.

He could leave the site only on a stretcher.

Subsequently, Fayzutdinov was taken to a local clinical hospital, where he received assistance.

At the same time, the athlete's mother Elena admitted that she would like to transport her son to Moscow, since in Yaroslavl the doctors had no experience of working with such injuries.

“We understand this is a risk, but we have to take a risk ... It's just that they (the doctors of the Solovyov Hospital.

- RT

) told me that this is the first time they are working with this type of injury.

And if he is injured, special equipment is needed, neurosurgery is needed.

The club and the federation are very helpful now, ”76.ru quotes Faizutdinova.

However, as reported by the publication, citing a source in the hospital, the council of doctors came to the conclusion that transportation of the patient in such a state is impossible.

The day before, the press service of Dynamo reported that the hockey player is still in Yaroslavl in a serious condition.

It was noted that "everything possible is being done for him, and all the necessary medicines and equipment are available, and qualified doctors are engaged in it."

In addition, the club assured that it has borne the costs of the treatment.

The situation around Faizutdinov attracted the attention of many athletes around the world.

Support for the Dynamo captain was expressed by the silver medalist of the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City with the US national team Jeremy Roenick.

Subsequently, information appeared in the media that the state of the defender had not improved in two days.

“With all the volume of intensive care that the hospital's resuscitators are now using, unfortunately, there is no positive trend,” the Yaroslavl Region Health Department told RIA Novosti a day before Fayzutdinov's death.

It is worth noting that the exact cause of the death of the young hockey player is not reliably known until now.

Official organizations have so far refrained from commenting.

One of the versions was published by FAN with reference to its own source, who wished to remain anonymous.

According to the newspaper, Faizutdinov's heart stopped.

At the same time, the agency reports that the puck hit the athlete in the carotid artery.

At the same time, according to other information, the puck could have gotten into the part of his head unprotected by the helmet.

The death of the 19-year-old hockey player was a tragedy for Russian sports.

Many national organizations and clubs expressed their condolences to family and friends.

At the same time, the vice-president of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, Roman Rotenberg, said that the organization intends to help Fayzutdinov's relatives.

“We express our condolences to Timur's family, his family and friends, the hockey club“ Dynamo ”(St. Petersburg).

The Russian Ice Hockey Federation will provide financial support to his family, ”Rotenberg assured.

A number of KHL clubs expressed condolences on the death of the athlete, including Moscow CSKA, Dynamo, Spartak, St. Petersburg SKA, Omsk Avangard, Kazan Ak Bars, Yaroslavl Lokomotiv and others.

Representatives of other sports also honored the memory of the young hockey player.

“The hockey player of“ Dynamo ”SPb Timur Fayzutdninov has died.

A few days ago, during a match, the puck hit him in the head.

Doctors fought for his life, but the injury was too serious.

We express our condolences to the family and friends of Timur, ”the Russian Football Union (RFU) said on Twitter.

In turn, the captain of the Moscow "Dynamo" Vadim Shipachev admitted that he was shocked by the news of the death of Fayzutdinov.

“Such news in the morning about a young guy ... He played great, and such a coincidence.

Relatives and friends - to hold on.

We're all upset, the lovely guy left the hockey family, it's a shame.

If you can think of how to make the equipment safer, you need to come up with it.

I watched the video, there was just a throwing of the puck into the zone, and he got in the head, ”Shipachev said.

However, there is a possibility that an end has not yet been put in the Fayzutdinov case.

At the moment, a pre-investigation check is being carried out on the fact that a Dynamo hockey player was injured, which subsequently led to his death.

“Currently, a set of verification measures is being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident.

Based on the results of the check, a procedural decision will be made, ”the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee for the Yaroslavl Region reported.

At the same time, the well-known lawyer Maxim Pashkov expressed the opinion that the check is unlikely to lead to the initiation of a criminal case.

According to him, what happened in the Dynamo - Lokomotiv match can be classified as "innocent harm."

“The Criminal Code contains articles“ causing death not by negligence ”and“ causing grievous bodily harm by negligence, ”but they do not apply to sports, to competitive disciplines, to game moments.

Often, something that formally falls under the above articles happens on a hockey rink or boxing ring.

Nevertheless, athletes accept these risks, such is their profession.

It is a pity that a tragedy has occurred, but no one is to blame for it, ”Pashkov told RIA Novosti.
