He died on January 5 due to chordoma, a very rare bone cancer. His father, known for playing Lieutenant Dan Taylor in Forrest Gump or for being the protagonist of CSI:NY, has confirmed Mac's death in a comprehensive message. "Thank you, Mac. You did it.
