Rafael Nadal will make his third appearance at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament at the beginning of March.
The twenty-time Grand Slam winner from Spain, the number two in the world, took part in Ahoy for the last time in 2009.
Twelve years ago Nadal reached the final in Rotterdam.
He then had to acknowledge his superior in Scotsman Andy Murray.
A year earlier, on his debut, he lost in the second round.
The last time a player from the so-called 'Big Four' - Novak Djokovic, Nadal, Roger Federer, Andy Murray - came to Rotterdam in 2018.
Federer took the title three years ago at the expense of Grigor Dimitrov and secured the leading position in the world ranking that week.
Nadal faces competition in Ahoy from Daniil Medvedev, Stan Wawrinka and Kei Nishikori, among others.
The tournament will take place this year from 1 to 7 March.
