On Friday, Stefan Löfven announced that all state and municipal activities that are not necessary would be suspended until 24 January.

Examples of such activities were open preschools, bathhouses and sports halls.

It got several municipalities to act.

It was quickly decided that all sports activities except the elite activities would be canceled, in Stockholm, among other places.

In the capital, no risks are taken.

On Monday, you immediately melt your outdoor ice cream.

The Swedish Public Health Agency clarifies

But a few hours later, the Swedish Public Health Agency announces in a press release that it wants to supplement the government's call.

“Exercise is important for public health and exercise is a priority activity even during the pandemic.

In light of the lower risk of the spread of infection outdoors and the importance of exercise for public health, the Swedish Public Health Agency assesses that outdoor exercise can be kept going, ”they write and refer again to the regulations published on 14 January.

The sports movement, in turn, thanks through the Swedish Sports Confederation's chairman Björn Eriksson.

- We are grateful for the clarification that means opportunities to conduct sports outdoors in the infection-proof ways required.

The clarification will also help both municipalities and associations to make wise decisions.

It is a message completely in line with the dialogue that the Swedish Sports Confederation has had with the Swedish Public Health Agency in recent days, he says.

Many trips around the sport

The messages for sports during the autumn and winter have been many.

Initially, only professional athletes and children aged 15 and under were allowed to train according to the local general guidelines developed in October and eventually applied in almost the whole country.

But on December 14, new national regulations came into force.

There, the Public Health Agency had stated that sports are important for public health, not least for children and young people.

This opened up training for everyone again.

As long as you stayed outdoors if possible and otherwise did so in an infectious manner.

As is well known, the joy was short-lived.

At 2 pm, the Swedish Public Health Agency will hold a press conference.

Maybe then the answer to the question will come.

- What is it that really matters?
