And Fabien Galthié does not have the luck attributed to his football counterpart Didier Deschamps, aka “the DD cat”.
The XV of France will face New Zealand, Italy, the first American qualifier and the African qualifier in Pool A during the 2023 World Cup, from September 8 to October 21, 2023.
The “America 1” team will be known in November 2021, after the match between the winner of the USA - Canada duel and the winner of the South American championship (Uruguay?).
As for the African qualifier, it will be the winner of CAN 2022, of which Namibia will start as favorite.
The why of the hat 2
The Blues were placed in hat 2, and therefore not protected, because the ranking which was authentic for this draw was stopped on January 1, 2020, because of the Covid-19 pandemic which disrupted the calendar.
