China News Service, November 5th. A few days ago, the ITTF announced that due to the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, it will cancel the 2020 ITTF Sweden International Open.

The tournament was originally scheduled to be held in Helsingborg, Sweden from November 30 to December 5, aiming to open the door for professional players to return to the international arena.

According to the ITTF announcement, in view of the increasing number of confirmed cases of the new crown in Sweden and other parts of Europe, the Swedish public health agency has implemented new restrictions and the 2020 ITTF Sweden International Open has also been cancelled.

The event originally hoped to open the door for all professional table tennis players to return to the international arena.

In the previous few months, these athletes could only participate in club or regional events.

Petra Solin, chairman of the Swedish Table Tennis Association, said: "We must always put health first. With the recent increase in the number of new crown cases and the new restrictions imposed by the Swedish Public Health Agency, although a lot of preparations have been done, it is a pity that we cannot continue. Host this event."

Affected by the new crown pneumonia epidemic, many ITTF events have been cancelled or postponed this year, but the good news is that some top players from all over the world will soon participate in the restart series of events held in China this month.

The series consists of three of the most prestigious ITTF events, namely the 2020 ITTF Women’s World Cup (November 8-10), 2020 ITTF Men’s World Cup (November 13-10) and 2020 ITTF Finals (November 19-22).
