  • Before attacking its Europa League campaign, Thursday in Leverkusen, OGC Nice offered a success this Sunday in the Cauldron (1-3).

  • Faced with an extremely diminished Saint-Etienne team, the Aiglons took advantage of two big mistakes before “turning their backs”.

  • The second very complicated period once again points to the difficulties of Patrick Vieira's group in imposing its game over time.

At the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium,

The entry into the Top 5 of Ligue 1 just before the reunion with the Europa League, Thursday at Bayer Leverkusen.

The dynamics of Nice seem almost perfect after the success in Saint-Etienne (1-3) this Sunday, and before the returns on Tuesday of Youcef Atal and Alexis Claude-Maurice, then the first steps of the flagship rookie Jeff Reine-Adélaïde (loaned by OL).

It is difficult, however, to be convinced by Patrick Vieira's team, who especially had the merit of taking advantage of big mistakes from Saint-Etienne in the first period (Jessy Moulin and especially Saïdou Sow) to take the lead thanks to Pierre Lees-Melou (0- 1, 8th) and Amine Gouiri (0-2, 30th).

The move to a three-way defense has certainly been rather convincing.

“Jordan Lotomba and Hassane Kamara [the two pistons of the day] have so much energy that they can defend and at the same time give depth to our game, appreciates Patrick Vieira.

Collectively, we had a very good performance, especially in the first half hour.

“Even only in the first half hour thanks to the gifts of the Greens.

Dominators in the 1st period, jostled after returning from the locker room, the Aiglons won for the 4th time in 7 days.

"You take a goal, unfortunately with a colleague's error"

Pressed by an ASSE found at the break, the Aiglons were strangely afraid, to the point of conceding in turn a cap goal, on a "small error" (dixit Vieira) by Walter Benitez, author of a missed raise leading to the goal of Adil Aouchiche (1-2, 58th).

“We had more trouble after 35 quality minutes, admits captain Dante, who is celebrating his 37th birthday.

Mentally, it's not easy because we had control of the game.

There, you take a goal, unfortunately with a colleague's error, the opponent pushes and you start to doubt a little… ”

Patrick Vieira tried to deflate in front of the press this period of doubts, during which OGC Nice struggled to launch rare counter-attacks.

“We did the round back, we defended and we waited for things to pass,” says the Gym coach.

But apart from this goal conceded, we were not in too much danger.

We went back a bit too far but we were pretty solid overall.

"An analysis to say the least optimistic that came to inflate the goal of Myziane Maolida, on a missed strike transformed into an assist for Dan Ndoye (1-3, 90th + 2).

There are days like that…
