The Minister Delegate for Sports Roxana Maracineanu on Friday ruled out on France Info an exemption from the curfew, introduced at 9 p.m. in Ile-de-France and in eight metropolises strongly affected by the Covid-19, for amateur athletes.

"We must be responsible in this situation, we must come in very strong support to the medical staff and to the people who will (be) and who are already sick with the coronavirus and who are in hospitals," said Maracineanu, asked about an easing a curfew similar to that in favor of cultural places pleaded by Minister Roselyne Bachelot.

"Sport has been treated very well since the start of this crisis, we have managed to have exceptions for certain audiences, especially children who can continue to go to associations," said the minister.

And even if the professional clubs "are in great financial difficulty", "the sports spectacle can continue to take place", she recalled.

If amateur athletes are thus deprived of their leisure for the duration of the curfew, introduced from Saturday for a minimum period of four weeks, "sport exists" for these two categories, hammered Maracineanu.

“Top-level athletes and professional athletes can continue to exercise their profession” and “when it comes to welcoming children and time necessary and indispensable for the health of our young people, the sport can continue to exist, including in health emergency zones ”.
