Robinho returns to Santos for the fourth time

Former Brazilian soccer striker Robinho has returned for the fourth time to his club, Santos, where he began his professional career before joining the ranks of Real Madrid, Milan, Italy and Manchester City, England.

Santos, the former club of Pele and Neymar, announced in a statement that Robinho, 36, signed a five-month contract for a symbolic salary of 1500 riyals (about 230 euros).

The Robinho contract includes bonuses in the event of achieving goals in addition to a clause for a one-year and seven-month renewal.

Robinho has been without a club since last August when his contract with Istanbul, Basaksehir, expired after two seasons in Turkey, where he played with Sivaspur.

"Santos has always been my home. My goal is to help both on and off the field, to bring Santos back to the top (...) It is a special feeling to return to the club that launched my football career," he said.

Robinho began his professional career with Santos in 2002 before joining Real Madrid in 2005, and then to Manchester City in 2008, where the English club loaned him to Santos in 2010. With the end of his loan, he moved to Milan, who in turn loaned him to Santos in the 2014-2015 season.

Robinho played with Gwangju Evergrande of China in the 2015-2016 season, and returned to Brazil to defend Atletico Mineiro (2016-2018), before moving to the ranks of Sivaspur (2018-2019) and Basaksehir (2019-2020).

During his professional career, he was crowned champions in Brazil (2002 and 2004), Spain (2007 and 2008), Italy (2011), China (2015) and Turkey (2020).

Robinho played 100 international matches, scoring 28 goals, and crowned the Confederations Cup (2005 and 2009) and the South American Cup "Copa America" in 2007.
