If the French can now play sports individually away from home, nothing protects them from a nasty injury. At the microphone of Europe 1, Sébastien Guérard, president of the French Federation of physiotherapists, explains what are the profiles of athletes most seen by his colleagues since the beginning of deconfinement.

That's it ! After several weeks of confinement due to coronavirus, the French can now go out to play sports without staying one kilometer from their home. In the green zones, the sports halls will open on Tuesday June 2, while it will be necessary to wait for the 22 of the month for Île-de-France, Mayotte and Guadeloupe. But whatever the location or the level of amateur athletes, the advice of professionals is the same: watch out for recovery.

"I don't know if I forced too much"

Because for Kevin, for example, the marathon training he follows went wrong this week. After two months of running five kilometers around his home, he decided to triple the distance. But at its twelfth kilometer, a pain seized him at the level of the buttock.

"I was not in too much pain, it was really when I stopped running that I realized the pain," he said at the microphone of Europe 1. "I don't know if I have too much forced, if I was no longer used to it or if I made a wrong move. " Result: he must put aside his preparation.

"The recovery must be done with great caution"

Post-confinement, two other types of wounded make up the profile of those who go to see their physiotherapists. Doctors thus see passing through their waiting rooms "those who took advantage of confinement to return to sport, and who suddenly overloaded the body a little and injured themselves," explains the microphone of Europe 1 Sébastien Guérard , president of the French Federation of physiotherapists.

Finally, there are the patients who were sick with Covid-19. "Since we know that the virus seriously attacks the pulmonary system and therefore we must monitor and alert them", continues Sébastien Guérard. "Their recovery must be done with great caution".

For all athletes, therefore, prevention is better than cure. Especially since the physiotherapy practices are idling with health standards. So advice after a two-month break: recovery must be gradual, with the golden triangle still in mind: warming up, stretching, hydration.
