The coming season was supposed to be a World Cup season for the alpine riders, but there is a great risk that this will not be the case. The Italian World Cup organizer has flagged for wishing to advance the championship by one year.

A decision will be made no later than July 1.

Norwegian Kjetil Jansrud, who took the World Cup gold in downhill in Åre 2019, sees it as an unthinkable plan when in such cases the World Cup would be decided immediately after the Olympics.

- I think that will never happen. I don't see that you should run the Olympics and then directly into a World Cup. It is pointless, he tells NRK.

Neither Jansrud nor his compatriot Aleksander Aamodt Kilde see any sporting obstacles to the scheme.

- Obviously it will be a tough program if I have to run all the disciplines I run, but I'm ready for it, says Kilde.

Instead, Jansrud points out that it can be difficult to maintain interest in a World Cup immediately after the Olympics.

- It costs a lot of resources to get started and plan and get ready for a World Cup, he says.
