Roger Federer stays away from the tennis tour in the spring. The Swiss has undergone surgery to correct an injury to his right knee, "which has disturbed me for a while," he says in a press release, the BBC reports.

Federer misses the French Championships in Paris in May / June, but also the big competitions in Indian Wells and Miami in the spring.

The operation was conducted on Wednesday in Switzerland and the aim is to set a return to Wimbledon.
