Roger Federer stays away from the tennis tour in the spring. The Swiss has undergone surgery to correct an injury to his right knee, "which has disturbed me for a while," he says in a press release, the BBC reports.
Federer misses the French Championships in Paris in May / June, but also the big competitions in Indian Wells and Miami in the spring.
The operation was conducted on Wednesday in Switzerland and the aim is to set a return to Wimbledon.
"We'll see you on the grass," Federer says, referring to the ground on which the London Grand Slam tournament is being played.
The 38-year-old has taken 20 grand slam titles, but only won once on the gravel in Paris, 2009. However, he has won Wimbledon eight times. no later than 2017.
