As former vice chairman of the international anti-doping organization WADA, and former chairman of the Medical Committee of the International Olympic Committee, Arne Ljungqvist has seen and done most in the field of doping. He is now 88 years old, and impressed by the young voice of Sebastian Samuelsson.

- I like the good considerations on which he has based his statements, and his way of expressing himself.

What do you think he's been pretty crazy about?

"He has been crazy when there have been reasons for this, and it has to be that way to get a breakthrough," says Arne Ljungqvist.

Vote against Russian doping

Sebastian Samuelsson has been highly praised, especially in relation to Russian doping. When WADA decided in September 2018 to lift the suspension of the Russian anti-doping organization Rusada, Samuelsson was perhaps the sharpest critic, and said, among other things, that WADA's power holders should also leave their positions. Just over a year later, WADA backed off by shutting down Rusada, and Russian athletes from major global championships.

- He has been basically right on this issue, it is good that the activists say off, says Arne Ljungqvist to SVT Sport.
