Sheikha Aisha bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, has given the emblem of the launch of the tenth edition of the Sharjah International Girls' Championship, in which 150 players from 35 countries participate, and the prize money is 70 thousand dirhams.

The opening was attended by Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Mualla, Chairman of the Arab Chess Federation, Chairman of Sharjah Chess Club, member of the Advisory Council in the Emirate of Sharjah, Sharifa Musa, and President of the Chess Federation, Dr. Sarhan Al-Muaini, Secretary General of the Arab and UAE Chess Associations, Hussain Al Shamsi, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Girls Club Sharjah Chess, Najla Abdullah.

Sheikha Aisha bint Mohammed Al Qasimi said: “Hosting a tournament of this size is not strange for the Emirate of Sharjah, which is the capital of chess in the world, thanks to the support and interest of the game received by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, as His Highness believes that the smart game is one of the sports that contribute to building the character of girls and young men mathematically and intellectually, and contributes to building their personality in an ideal way.

She added: «The continuation of the establishment of the Sharjah Girls’ Championship for the tenth year in a row, confirms that it has succeeded in finding a place on the map of chess in the world, and the evidence is the participation of all this large number of players ranked internationally, which gave the championship a great strength in terms of competition, and a great global follow-up For the championship, what also contributes to the service of tourism in the Al-Basma Emirate. ”

She continued by saying: «Today I was delighted to see all this large number of female citizens participating in the championship, as their number represents almost half of the female players participating, which means that the game has evolved significantly in terms of the number of practices, and our players must persevere and continue to see a Emirati champion for a day She holds the title of Sharjah International Championship, and other international championships, because we are convinced that the Emirati girl possesses intelligence and seriousness, which qualifies her to assume a prominent international position in the game of smart people ».
