Oliwer Magnusson and Jesper Tjäder were two of the few riders who landed all three jumps, in the new qualifying format. When Magnusson landed the back length flip, in 1440, it reached second place in the qualifier, for the guy who otherwise has his greatest successes in slopestyle. Among other things with a gold in the junior world championship last year.

- He has always had the strength of slopestyle when he is good at the combination of jumps and rails, while he has not really got it in the big air before, says federation captain Niklas Eriksson.

Harlaut misses the final

The competitions are run in Beijing, on the newly built Olympic arena, which hosts the Games 2022. The difference in this arena is that it is specially adapted for its purpose. Most often it is built up of stands while this arena is built solely for big air.

For the big star of the sport, Henrik Haurlaut made that stop already in the qualifying. He tried on a switch triple cork 1440 safety, a trick no one has managed to land yet.

- Henrik tried a new trick he had never done on skis before. He saw this a bit more like a training because this will be the Olympic jump. He was close but it didn't really go as he wished.

The conditions have been the same before the races, where yesterday's snowboarding qualification consisted of very hard ground. With the mild weather today, the conditions for the skiers improved.

- It was really good. On the last training day it was very hard but today it was fantastic conditions.
