Luis Enrique has accused his former assistant coach Robert Moreno, who took the job temporarily for a few months, of not being "faithful" and no longer regarding him as his "assistant."

Enrique made the remarks at a press conference on Wednesday after returning to oversee his national team, which he left last June because of the illness of his daughter who died later before being renamed the Spanish federation on 19.

Enrique explained what happened with his former assistant by saying «I understand that he became a coach, now has a lot of hopes, I understand that it was the opportunity of his life and that he made great efforts to do so, but I think that he was not loyal and overly ambitious and I do not want anyone with such specifications in my technical staff ».

"The only person responsible for the absence of Robert Moreno in my technical staff is me. The row with Moreno began on September 12, the only day that we have come together. He came and admitted to me that he wanted to lead the team at Euro 2020 and then I could take over the team again.

"Sometimes life gives you opportunities to know the people around you better, who is your friend and who is not your friend." I would not have done what he did and therefore I do not consider it from now on from within my technical ».

Moreno revealed on September 3 that he is ready to give up the national team and return to the post of assistant to Louis Enrique if the latter wishes to do so. He said at the time, "There is a situation we have to respect and I do not think (Enrique) is thinking about this issue now," in a reference to return To office.

"I consider Lewis a friend and friendship comes before anything in life because without it, we lose the meaning of being human. So if there is a time when he wants to return to be a coach, I would be, then I would be the first and most pleased to step aside and go back to work with him." As an assistant.

However, according to Enrique's remarks today, the latter retracted the statement a few days later.

Prior to their cooperation in the technical management of the 2010 World Champions, Moreno worked as an assistant to Enrique at the clubs of Celta Vigo, Roma and Barcelona.
