Manchester City's loss to Wolverhampton meant that the reigning champion lost important ground to Liverpool's league-leading Premier League football. "The Reds" is now eight points ahead of its competitor in the table.

In the 80th minute, a late cold shower came for City when Adama Traoré hit the lead for Newcastle. The Spanish outfield was played by Raul Jiménez after fine preparation by the teammate, who dribbled forward in a changeover, and placed 1-0 along the ground.

The same Traoré then did 2-0 at extra time.

As a result, City went on their second loss of the season. Liverpool, for their part, have won all eight matches so far.

Man United in lousy form

At the same time, Manchester United zeroed in Newcastle. United, who, among other things, managed without Swedish center back Victor Nilsson Lindelöf, who is drawn with back problems, had a lot of ball but could not accomplish anything at St James' Park. Instead, PL debutant Matthew Longstaff, 19, decided with the only goal of the match.

United now have three straight matches without victory, including two losses, and are down to 12th place.

- Of course we are disappointed. We were missing some key players, but that's no excuse. We are in a position we are not used to. Some of the players lack some confidence and we do not create enough chances to win, says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in Viasat's broadcast.

Chelsea trailed 4-1 away to Southampton, while Arsenal beat Bournemouth 1-0 at home to Emirates.
