Kim Hyun-seop was taken to the emergency room with stressful stomach cramps two days before the Daegu World Championships 20km warning game eight years ago and took his first step in the worst condition without eating properly.

In the midst of the 85% humidity sauna, he was promoted in the second place until mid-term, but he finally finished the race in sixth place due to the lack of strength.

He exhausted himself shortly after the game and gave his strength to fall.

[Kim Hyun-seop / National Representative, Korea (2011): From 14km onwards, it has been so painful and difficult.]

The reward that I walked to the end without giving up returned to the unexpected glory.

Kim Hyun-seop was the fourth-ranked Russian champion of Borchin and Kanaiken, who were caught in the 2016 Doping Follow-up Test. Was officially recognized as a new bronze medalist.

[Kim Hyun Sup / Alarm National Team: If not for Daegu, I would have given up. It was home and we were able to finish because many people supported in the street. Had I given up at that time, there would have been no glory for the first medal ever in Korea.]

As the League decided to hold a separate awards ceremony at the Doha World Championships next month, Kim Hyun-seop was named as the first World Championship medalist in Korea.
