The first snowfall was observed on the 6th at Mt. Asahidake in the Daisetsu Mountains, the highest peak in Hokkaido.

Asahidake in the Daisetsu mountain range is the highest in Hokkaido at an altitude of 2291 meters, and the Asahikawa Local Meteorological Observatory announced on the 6th that it had "observed the first snowfall" after confirming that the area near the summit was covered with snow.

Even in the video captured by the NHK camera installed on the mountainside around 5:30 am on the 6th, it was confirmed that the area near the mountaintop was slightly covered with snow.

The first snowfall of Mt. Asahidake is 11 days later than normal and 10 days later than last year.

Autumn leaves have been in full bloom at Asahidake since last month, and visitors were looking around the white-dyed mountain peak around the ropeway station at the 5th station.

A man in his 70s who visited with his wife from Aichi Prefecture said, "I visited to see the beautiful autumn leaves. I was happy because I never thought I could see the snow."
