The only hospital in Takomachi resumes outpatient service on September 13 at 15:02

In Tako-cho, northeastern Chiba Prefecture, where power outages and water outages continued due to the impact of Typhoon No.15, only one hospital in the town was unable to use electronic medical records due to system communication problems. The medical examination resumed from the day.

According to Tako-cho, about 70% of households in the town continue to have power outages and water outages at 10:00 am on the 13th.

The only hospital in the town, “Kokuho Tako Chuo Hospital”, was examined as usual during the day on the 10th of this month, the day after the typhoon passed, but there was a communication failure in the system that manages electronic medical records at night. It occurred and information such as patient's visit history was not seen.

For this reason, we had stopped accepting outpatients except for urgent patients and those who no longer took medicines. However, we were able to resume outpatient examinations in the morning on the 13th because communication problems were resolved.

A 28-year-old woman who visited pediatrics with a 2-year-old daughter said, “I didn't know if the hospital was open, but I was glad to see you.”

“I don't know why the electronic medical record could not be opened, but I was a little relieved to get back to the normal form,” said Yutaka Sugawara, the hospital director.
