The topic of the day: The black box of the Boeing 737 Max

The first investigation report on the cause of the crash of the Boeing 737 Max has been presented today by the Ethiopian Minister Dagmawit Moges. The evaluation of the black boxes confirmed that the pilots adhered to the emergency plans. Nevertheless, the nose of the aircraft dropped several times. The pilots could not stop the crash. Your colleague Christoph Seidler looked at her role in the crash.

This result indicates that a software error could have caused the crash. So far, the data provided no evidence that there is a fundamental technical problem with the Boeing 737 Max. Nevertheless, the Ethiopian authorities are asking Boeing to have the control system reviewed.

On March 10, the Boeing 737 Max 8 had crashed six minutes after launching near the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. 157 people from over 30 nations were killed. Just five months earlier, a Boeing of the same type had crashed in Indonesia shortly after take-off. It killed 189 people.
