The leaders of Jordan, Egypt and France, King Abdullah II, and Presidents Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Emmanuel Macron said on Monday that the human losses in Gaza are “unbearable,” stressing the “urgent need” for an “immediate” ceasefire in Gaza and the release of “all hostages,” warning Israel faces "serious consequences" from its possible attack on Rafah.

The three leaders wrote, in an opinion article published in four daily newspapers: the French "Le Monde", the American "Washington Post", the Jordanian "Al-Rai", and the Egyptian "Al-Ahram", that "the war in Gaza and the catastrophic human suffering it causes must end now."

“Ten days ago, the Security Council finally fulfilled its responsibility by demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, a decisive step that must be fully implemented without further delay,” the article said.

They added, "In light of the unbearable human losses, we call for the immediate and unconditional implementation of Security Council Resolution No. 2728, and we also stress the urgent need to reach a permanent ceasefire in Gaza."

The leaders noted “an urgent need for a massive increase in the provision and distribution of humanitarian assistance” in Gaza. They said, "Palestinians in Gaza are no longer merely facing the threat of famine; famine has already begun."

“United Nations agencies, including UNRWA, and humanitarian actors play a critical role in humanitarian operations in Gaza. They must be protected and given full access, including to the northern part of the Gaza Strip,” the leaders continued in the article. We therefore condemn the killing of humanitarian support workers, including the recent attack on the World Central Kitchen aid convoy.”

The three leaders pointed out that the attack that Israel intends to launch in Rafah, where more than 1.5 million Palestinian civilians have been displaced, “will only lead to more death and suffering, increase the risks and consequences of the mass forced displacement of the population of Gaza, and threaten regional escalation.”

They stressed that "violence, terrorism and war cannot bring peace to the Middle East, but the two-state solution will achieve this, as it is the only reliable path to ensuring peace and security for all."

They urged "an end to all unilateral measures, including settlement activity and land confiscation," and urged "Israel to prevent settler violence."

For 6 months, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip that has left tens of thousands of martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and a noticeable deterioration in infrastructure and property, which led to Israel being brought before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing genocide.
