  • USA The judge extends the gag rule against Trump in his criminal trial in New York

The virtual Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said this Monday that the legality of abortion should be left in the hands of each state and

ruled out a nationwide ban

. In a video of about four minutes on his social network, the former president reiterated that he is proud of having appointed a majority of conservative judges to the Supreme Court of Justice who, in 2022, annulled protections for the interruption of pregnancy.

"My opinion is that now, when it comes to abortion, we are where everyone wanted to be from a legal standpoint," Trump wrote in his 'Social Truth'. "States will determine by voting or legislation, or perhaps both, and what they decide will be the law," he added. The statement will likely disappoint more militant groups

pushing for a nationwide ban on abortion

, especially given that Trump's presidential campaign previously mentioned a nationwide ban on the procedure after the 15th week of gestation.

Trump reiterated his support for exceptions that allow abortion in cases of rape, incest or when the mother's life is in danger. He also added that he agrees with procedures such as in vitro fertilization.

"Many states will be different

," explained the former conservative president. "They will have a different number of weeks (allowed to terminate pregnancy) and some will be more conservative than others," he added. For Trump, "each person should follow what they feel, or in many cases, their religion or faith."
