  The list of minimum wage standards across the country has been updated, with increases in many provinces.

  Recently, the official website of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security released the minimum wage standards for all provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across the country (as of April 1, 2024). Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Beijing have the highest monthly minimum wages in the country. The monthly and hourly minimum wages in Hubei, Jiangxi, Ningxia and other places have increased.

The minimum wage in 20 provinces exceeds 2,000 yuan

  The monthly minimum wage standard applies to full-time employed workers, that is, workers who provide normal labor during legal working hours or the working hours stipulated in a legally signed labor contract. The monthly wage paid by the employer cannot be lower than the monthly minimum wage standard. .

  The hourly minimum wage standard applies to part-time employees. The "Labor Contract Law" stipulates that the average daily working hours of part-time employees in the same employer shall not exceed 4 hours, and the cumulative working hours per week shall not exceed 24 hours.

  According to the Minimum Wage Regulations, different administrative regions within provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government may have different minimum wage standards. The latest data shows that Shanghai’s first-grade monthly minimum wage is 2,690 yuan, ranking first in the country; Jiangsu and Zhejiang’s is 2,490 yuan, tied for second; Beijing’s is 2,420 yuan, ranking third. In terms of hourly minimum wage standards, Beijing ranks first with 26.4 yuan.

  Guoshi Express has found that after this update, there are 20 regions with first-tier monthly minimum wage standards of 2,000 yuan and above, namely Beijing (2,420 yuan), Tianjin (2,320 yuan), Hebei (2,200 yuan), and Shanghai. (2690 yuan), Jiangsu (2490 yuan), Zhejiang (2490 yuan), Anhui (2060 yuan), Fujian (2030 yuan), Jiangxi (2000 yuan), Shandong (2200 yuan), Henan (2100 yuan), Hubei (2210 yuan) Yuan), Guangdong (2,300 Yuan, including Shenzhen Yuan 2,360 Yuan), Hainan (2,010 Yuan), Chongqing (2,100 Yuan), Sichuan (2,100 Yuan), Tibet (2,100 Yuan), Shaanxi (2,160 Yuan), Gansu (2,020 Yuan), Ningxia (2050 yuan).

  Judging from the hourly minimum wage standard (as of April 1, 2024), there are 23 regions with the first hourly minimum wage standard of 20 yuan and above, with Beijing and Tianjin still leading the country.

Many provinces raise minimum wages

  Since 2024, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Henan, Hubei and other places have announced increases in minimum wage standards.

  For example, Jiangxi Province announced that starting from April 1, 2024, the province’s minimum wage standards will be adjusted. The adjusted monthly minimum wage is divided into three levels, namely 2,000 yuan, 1,870 yuan and 1,740 yuan. For part-time employees, the minimum hourly wages are also set at NT$20, NT$18.7 and NT$17.4 accordingly.

  Liaoning Province announced that starting from May 1, 2024, three different levels of monthly minimum wage standards will be implemented, namely 2,100 yuan, 1,900 yuan and 1,700 yuan. The hourly minimum wage standards are also set at 21 yuan, 19 yuan and 17 yuan respectively.

What should I do if my salary is below the standard?

  Adjusting the minimum wage standard is related to the vital interests of the majority of workers, especially low-income groups. If an employer violates the minimum wage regulations and refuses to implement the minimum wage standards, the human resources and social security departments at all levels may order the enterprise to make rectifications within a time limit and repay the employee the difference in wages below the minimum wage standard within a time limit; if the enterprise refuses to make rectifications, , administrative penalties can be imposed on enterprises for illegal activities.

  Chang Sha, a partner at Beijing Jingdu Law Firm, pointed out in an interview with China News Service Guoshi Express that the wages paid to workers by employers are lower than the minimum wage, and workers have the right to request to make up the difference and apply for payment of compensation; If the employee proposes to terminate the labor contract on this basis, the employer shall pay economic compensation to the employee at the rate of one month's salary per year.

  If workers find that their wages are lower than the local minimum wage standard, they can safeguard their legitimate rights and interests in the following ways: First, they can complain to the "12333" human resources and social security hotline; second, workers can complain and report to the local labor inspection department; third, they can complain to the local labor inspection department; It is to apply for labor dispute arbitration to the local labor dispute arbitration department. At the same time, people who have difficulty in litigation can apply for free legal aid from local legal aid agencies and protect their legitimate rights and interests through legal means.
