Nuclear risk once again looms over the war in Ukraine. Pro-Russian authorities controlling the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine reported a strike on Sunday against the dome of the facility's sixth reactor, without causing any damage.

Earlier, the plant's administration reported a drone attack that damaged a truck parked near the canteen, Russian news agency TASS reported.

According to plant officials, radiation levels remained the same after both attacks. Reuters was unable to independently verify this information.

For its part, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said it had been informed of the drone attack on the site on Sunday.

“IAEA experts were informed by the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant that a drone exploded on the site today. This detonation is consistent with IAEA observations,” she added on the network social

The Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, Europe's largest, has been controlled by Russia since March 2022, when its forces seized much of the region in southeastern Ukraine.

The plant is close to the front lines, and Ukraine and Russia regularly accuse each other of striking the facility and risking a nuclear catastrophe.
