Rahim Safavi threatens Israel after it targeted the Iranian consulate in Damascus (European News Agency)

Yahya Rahim Safavi, advisor to the Iranian Supreme Leader, threatened Israel on Sunday, saying that all Israeli embassies are no longer safe, and therefore they closed their embassies in 27 countries, amid continuing Iranian threats to respond to Israel’s bombing of its consulate in Damascus, and Israel’s declaration of its readiness to respond.

This comes as the Iranian ISNA news agency published the names and pictures of 9 Iranian missiles capable of reaching and bombing Israel, with a range of between 1,400 kilometers and 2,500 kilometers.

Yesterday, Saturday, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard confirmed that it would meet popular demands to hold Israel and its supporters accountable, due to the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei also vowed that Israel would regret its bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

Last Thursday, Israeli media reported that Tel Aviv closed its embassies in about 27 countries for fear of an Iranian response, and also ordered consular staff not to go to the embassies.

Israeli readiness

On the other hand, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said that the defense system had completed its preparations to respond to any scenario that might develop against Iran, after its threats to respond to the targeting of its consulate in Damascus.

This came at the conclusion of an assessment of the preparations conducted by Gallant at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv with the head of the Operations Division in the Israeli army, Oded Bashiok, and the head of the Intelligence (Security) Division, Aharon Haliva.

Gallant said last Friday - during a visit to the air base in Tel Nof - that Iran was subjected to “severe blows” everywhere, so it is looking for ways to respond, adding that the Israeli army is ready for what he described as “multi-layered defense.”

On the evening of April 1, Iran announced that the consular section of its embassy in Damascus had been subjected to an Israeli missile attack, while the Iranian Revolutionary Guard reported that 7 of its members had been killed, including prominent leader Mohammad Reza Zahedi.

While Israeli Army Radio denied targeting the Iranian embassy building, and claimed that it bombed a building adjacent to it that served as the military headquarters of the Revolutionary Guard.
