War UK announces military and civilian support package to help Gaza
Israel affirms that it has withdrawn
all its ground troops from the south of the Gaza Strip
tonight
, and only one brigade remains in the enclave, a military source told EFE this Sunday.
The withdrawal occurs
after four months of combat
in the Khan Younis area and six months after the start of the
war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza
.
Currently there is only one Israeli brigade left in the Palestinian enclave that is responsible for securing a corridor between southern Israel and the Gaza coast, blocking the passage to the north of the Strip and facilitating operations in the center and north of the territory.
This Sunday, April 7, marks six months of war. In these months,
more than 33,100 people have died in Gaza
, of which 9,560 are women and 14,500 are children, according to data from the Strip's Ministry of Health, controlled by the Islamist group Hamas. Israel claims that some 13,000 dead are militants, although Hamas claims that it is half that number.
UK announces military and civil support package
The British Government announced this Sunday a
package of military and civil support
in order to establish a
maritime aid corridor for the Gaza Strip
, which includes the deployment of a ship from the United Kingdom Navy (Royal Navy).
The ship will support the establishment of an international humanitarian corridor
from Cyprus to Gaza
, supported by other governments and the UN, which is expected to be operational in early May, the British Executive has indicated in a statement.
