Griffiths: The six months of war brought nothing but death, destruction, and the possibility of famine to the residents of Gaza (French)

Today, Saturday, Martin Griffiths, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, described the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip as a “betrayal of humanity,” while today a fuel truck and two medical aid trucks entered the northern Gaza Strip from the Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing for the first time since the 7th of April. Last October.

In a statement issued in New York on the eve of the six-month anniversary of the war, Griffiths called for “a collective determination to hold accountable this betrayal of humanity,” noting that the six months of war had brought nothing but death, destruction, and the possibility of imminent famine to the residents of Gaza.

The UN official believed that "the six months of war should not only be a moment of remembrance and mourning. This must also lead to a collective reaction with the aim of holding accountable this betrayal of humanity."

Griffiths stressed that “no one is safe on the ground in Gaza, and there is no place to go for protection,” pointing out that despite “global discontent,” “little has been accomplished to put an end to the war, in favor of great impunity.”

Two weeks ago, Griffiths announced his resignation from his position as Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator in the organization “for health reasons,” but he will remain in his position until next June.

In recent months, Griffiths has made repeated calls to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza, denouncing the practices of the Israeli authorities to prevent this.
