Sunak: Gaza’s children need an immediate humanitarian truce (Getty)

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that the United Kingdom was "shocked by the bloodbath" in Gaza and stressed that "this terrible war must end."

In a statement published coinciding with the half-year anniversary of the start of the war on Gaza, Sunak said, “We continue to defend Israel’s right to defeat the threat of Hamas terrorists and defend its security, but the entire United Kingdom is shocked by the bloodbath, and we are horrified by the killing of the brave British heroes who transported food.” for those in need” in Gaza.

Seven aid workers, including three Britons, were killed in the Gaza Strip last Monday in Israeli drone raids after they supervised the unloading of an aid shipment transported by a ship from Cyprus.

Sunak pointed out, "This terrible war must end. The hostages must be released. Aid must flow."

The British Prime Minister stressed that "the children of Gaza need an immediate humanitarian truce, leading to a long-term, sustainable ceasefire," considering that this is "the quickest way to extract hostages and deliver aid."

He added, "For the benefit of Israelis and Palestinians - who all deserve to live in peace, dignity and security - this is what we will continue to work to achieve."

For his part, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron told the Sunday Times newspaper that "Britain's support for Israel is not unconditional," and he considered that "the deaths of relief workers from the Central Kitchen are tragic and could have been avoided."

Israel has launched a devastating aggression against Gaza since last October 7, resulting in the death of more than 33,000 Palestinians and the injury of tens of thousands, in addition to widespread destruction in the Strip and an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.
