  • Tension 600 judges, lawyers and academics demand Rishi Sunak's arms embargo on Israel

  • Gaza The attack on José Andrés' NGO in which seven aid workers died occurred along two and a half kilometers of road

Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson says it is "shameful" to call on the UK to end

arms sales to Israel

. In his Daily Mail column, the president states that it would be "crazy" for the country to end military support, which, according to him, would mean "wanting the military defeat of Israel and the victory of Hamas."

Johnson, also a former UK foreign secretary, writes: "Remember that to win this conflict,

Hamas only has to survive

. All they need in the end is to hold on, rebuild and start again."

Three Britons are among the seven humanitarian workers who died on Monday in the Israeli airstrike in Gaza, all aid workers from World Central Kitchen (WCK), José Andrés' NGO. And this has led the Liberal Democrats, the SNP and some Labor and Conservative MPs to urge the UK to reassess how it supports Israel.

Along the same lines, more than 600 judges,

lawyers, academics and legal experts

wrote a letter to

Prime Minister

Rishi Sunak demanding an arms embargo on Israel.

"faced with the risk that a

genocide

is being committed ." The letter, revealed by

The Guardian

, was sent hours after the Israeli air attack on Gaza in which seven World Central Kitchen (WCK) aid workers lost their lives, three of them British.

The Foreign Ministry said it is keeping advice on Israel's compliance with the law under review, adding that this is confidential.
