Hebert explained that he aims to pressure the American government to stop supplying weapons to Israel (Anatolia)

US Air Force soldier Larry Hebert continues his sit-in in front of the White House for the sixth day in a row, in parallel with his hunger strike, to demand an end to the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

The 26-year-old American soldier began his hunger strike and sit-in in front of the White House, since March 31, under the slogan “Stop the occupation of Gaza.”

Hebert - a member of the Veterans for Peace Association - said that American soldier Aaron Bushnell, who set himself on fire in front of the Israeli embassy in Washington on February 25 to denounce the war on Gaza, was an inspiration for him to launch his sit-in and hunger strike.

Hebert explained - in an interview with Anadolu Agency - that he wants, through this step, to increase pressure on the American government to stop supplying weapons to Israel, and to create global awareness about what is happening in Gaza.

The American soldier described the Israeli practices in Gaza as “genocide,” and accused Israel of targeting journalists and doing everything in its power to obstruct their work in order to prevent them from documenting the genocide.

Regarding the killing of foreign aid workers in Gaza as a result of an Israeli attack, the American soldier said that it is shocking, but it is not an unlikely step by Israel in light of the war it is waging against the civilians of the Strip.

Last Monday evening, the Israeli occupation army targeted a convoy of the World Central Kitchen organization in the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, killing 7 foreign employees with nationalities distributed between Australia, Poland, Britain, the United States, Canada and Palestine.

This comes as the occupation army continues its war on Gaza since the seventh of last October, leaving tens of thousands of martyrs, wounded and missing amid a humanitarian situation described as catastrophic and a worsening famine looming over this besieged sector.
