The French Minister of Foreign Affairs spoke at length with his Kenyan counterpart and then both spoke to the press. France highlights a “

booming

 ” partnership.

With Kenya, Paris is highlighting a partnership that goes beyond the security prism. “

In Africa, there is not only the Sahel

”, affirmed Minister Stéphane Séjourné who recognized that Kenya is not, in his words, a traditional partner of France, but Paris wishes, precisely, to diversify its partnerships and make them beneficial for African countries.

The economic partnership with Kenya was, for example, at the heart of the discussions this Saturday morning. The number of French companies in the country has almost tripled in ten years. There are 140 today which employ more than 30,000 people.

The two ministers also discussed their cooperation on environmental issues. Kenya and France are pushing together for an international tax that would help developing countries deal with climate change.

Musalia Mudavadi, Kenyan Minister of Foreign Affairs, mentioned this this morning. He called on “

all countries to join this working group

”. Finally, there was also the question of the war in Sudan which has lasted for almost a year, because Paris will host, on April 15, an international conference to discuss the issues, particularly humanitarian, in Sudan.
