The Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has ordered the Molins de Rei City Council, governed by the PSC, to "permanently hang" the Spanish flag on the façade of the town hall. A ruling issued yesterday following a complaint from the entity Impulso Ciudadano.

In its ruling, the administrative litigation chamber of the TSJC upholds the appeal presented by Impulso Ciudadano against a previous decision of a contentious court that ruled out forcing the City Council to place the Spanish flag.

According to the ruling, the court of first instance rejected the petition raised by Impulso Ciudadano, due to "loss of object", since the Molins City Council secretariat had proven that the flag was hanging in the building.

However, the court maintains that the City Council's certificate only accredited that the Spanish flag flew on September 20, 2023 in the town hall building at 9:22 a.m., but not its "continued presence" on the façade.

In fact, Impulso Ciudadano provided in its appeal a photograph taken six days later in which neither the Spanish nor any other flag no longer appeared on the façade of the City Hall, the ruling adds.
