Although the number of Egyptian series competing this Ramadan exceeded 35, critics and pioneers of social media platforms unanimously agreed that the best first episode of the season went to the series “Without Warning,” which began airing in the second half of the holy month.

This is due to its plot that revolved around a complex human dilemma, its interesting dramatic narrative with sharp crescendos, and the exciting and nerve-wracking ending of the episode, which forced viewers to wait impatiently for the next episode.

The events of the work initially seem as if they revolve primarily around a couple who are going through family problems related to the way each of them translates each other’s speech and how they deal with their declared and undeclared feelings, and the eternal conflict between need and containment and the traumas of each of them’s inner child, but things become more complicated when they discover... Their only child is diagnosed with cancer and they are forced to put aside their differences.

The events become more complicated after a DNA test is conducted that proves that the child is not theirs, and then they conclude that it was altered at the time of birth. Then events continue in light of their attempts to reach their original child and their unanswered questions about the fate of their current child if they find their biological son. .

Watch out, there's a gray area in front of you

Hani Khalifa's drama is characterized by its treatment of complex human issues that place the viewer in the gray zone of everything, where he is subjected to a series of difficult and successive tests that force him to rediscover himself and the firmness of his convictions.

This is what we recently saw in his film “Journey 404,” in which Mona Zaki played the role of a repentant woman who is forced by life to make choices that measure the sincerity and strength of her faith when she is exposed to a severe financial crisis that threatens her mother’s life.

The series Without Warning is one of the best series in terms of writing in a long time. The writing and directing covered Aser Yassin’s weakness in acting, which I cannot say is ugly, but at the same time it is not good, even though he was initially playing nice roles until he almost discovered that he looks good.

The same thing is repeated in his new series “Without Warning”, which he returns to the small screen audience after an absence of two years since the series “The Night and the One in It”, through a story that is fun and scary at the same time and forces you to sympathize with its owners.

The work raises other side problems that are no less important or creative than the main problem, which is a woman who is unable to find a suitable life partner resorting to freezing her eggs in order to ensure her last chance to conceive, or the complex relationship between the hero’s emotional brother, who takes risks and loses in failed business projects, and his wife. She grew up in a humble family and needs financial security to feel stable.

Thus, episode after episode, the viewer continues to rediscover the heroes according to the new data the episodes provide that reflect their hidden pains, the impact of their life experiences and their relationships with their families on their current lives, and how they deal with problems.

What distinguishes the work is that all of this takes place in a smooth rhythm without affectation or exaggeration, and a balanced performance from the heroes, and the most important thing is the presence of deep and realistic dialogue and intelligent and sensitive writing that knows how to raise difficult and painful issues without resorting to melodrama.

Divided over the quality of representation

The audience's opinions varied, among those who praised the performance of Aser Yassin, who knew how to express the suffering of the bereaved father who seeks to save his family from a multi-faceted flood that threatens everything he lived for. They also expressed their admiration for the acting of Aisha bin Ahmed, who presents a character who is accustomed to concealing her emotions and refusing to show them. Her feelings are expressed only through the trembling of her voice or her teary eyes.

At the same time, another trend emerged that described Aser Yassin’s performance as moderate and appropriate to the acceptable limit of the character’s coexistence, while they accused Aisha bin Ahmed of being cold and unable to identify with the character and the magnitude of the resounding disaster that life had thrown at her family, and some wondered whether her role would be better presented. If it was given to an Egyptian artist who is more capable of acting and having some harmony and chemistry with the hero.

The pain that afflicts the family and the changing moments between despair and hope.

The least happy piece of news implants hope in their lives and turns the scene into joy in seconds.. And the opposite, unfortunately, is true.

All the creators of the work criticized it for the quality of the series that appeared and complemented it, and they criticized it for Hani Khalifa precisely because it was destined. It directs them to the right emotions and convinces you pic.twitter.com/WCi9DHhy7U

But the one whom no one disagreed with is the child Salim Youssef, who plays the role of the son of the two main heroes, who suffers from cancer and suffers physically and psychologically, especially when he discovers that his parents are about to separate. What is interesting is that this role is the first in the child’s career, and yet he excelled in expressing His complex emotions are perhaps better than other major stars with years of experience.

Among the new stars, the young actress Jihad Hossam El-Din made good use of the large and sensitive space given to her by director Hani Khalifa, and presented a character that you may not agree with, but you cannot hate her because she has logic and a past that gives her justification for the way she sees the world.

Of course, the director of the work is credited for his good management of her and the exploitation of her acting capabilities, and it is easy to notice the difference between her performance in the series “Without Warning” and her role in “Compulsory Path,” which was shown in the first half of Ramadan. It is noteworthy that she also drew attention to her in the series “The Killer of Giza.” .
