“He was found guilty of cruel treatment of the civilian population, the use of prohibited means and methods in an armed conflict, incitement to commit murder in a generally dangerous manner based on political and ideological hatred,” the statement said.

In March 2022, Kirilenko’s subordinates were at the “Punisher” combat position in the village of Volonterovka, Ilyichevsky district, Mariupol. The composition included: commander of the third platoon of marines Artem Kashirin and senior sailors Evgeny Vakhnenko and Vladimir Pafitsevich.

Vakhnenko detained a local resident for violating the curfew, and Kashirin took him to Kirilenko’s headquarters. He ordered the death of the detainee because the man saw the location of the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and could give this information to the Russian army.

Vakhnenko and Pafitsevich acted as executors of the order. They shot the man, and the next day Pafitsevich tied a red bandage on the dead man’s clothes, which symbolizes support for the Russian Armed Forces.

Earlier it was reported that the commander of a tank platoon of the Ukrainian Armed Forces received 20 years in prison for ordering the shelling of a residential building in Mariupol.
