For 6 months, the Israeli military war machine has been destroying the Gaza Strip, coming to nothing but the impact of a silent war in the West Bank that has made the Palestinians prisoners of displacement, settlement expansion, and Israeli violence and oppression.

The numbers are accelerating upward, whether those resulting from the genocide in the Gaza Strip, which enters its seventh month on April 7, or those resulting from violations at all levels in the West Bank.

Annihilation and destruction

In data published by the government media office in the Gaza Strip, regarding the outcome of 180 days of aggression, it indicated that the occupation committed 2,922 massacres, claiming the lives of 39,975 martyrs and missing persons, including 14,500 children and 9,560 women.

Among the martyrs were 484 medical personnel, 65 from the Civil Defense, and 140 journalists. Data also indicates that approximately 75,577 injuries have been recorded in the Gaza Strip since the start of the aggression. According to the same source, 73% of the victims are children and women, while 17 are still alive. A thousand children without their parents or one of them.

Displacement and destruction in Gaza

The report indicated that one million displaced people left their homes, and 70,000 housing units were completely destroyed within 180 days, and another 290,000 units were partially destroyed, using approximately 70,000 tons of explosives.

Data from the government media office in the Gaza Strip stated that 171 government headquarters and 100 schools and universities were completely destroyed, and 305 schools and universities were partially destroyed. The destruction also affected 229 mosques completely, and 297 mosques partially, in addition to the destruction of 3 churches.

On the health front, the occupation put 32 hospitals and 53 health centers out of service, and targeted 159 health institutions and 126 ambulances.

Settlement and displacement in the West Bank

According to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 457 Palestinian citizens were martyred and 4,750 were injured in 180 days in the West Bank.

The Ministry also monitored in a report 340 attacks against health care facilities and their workers in the West Bank during the past six months.

On the settlement level, data from the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission indicate that since October 7, the occupation has confiscated approximately 27 thousand dunums (a dunum equals a thousand square metres) of Palestinian land in the West Bank, and has established 3 buffer zones around the settlements.

Within 6 months, Israeli planning authorities studied a total of 52 structural plans for the purpose of building a total of 8,829 settlement units, on an area of ​​6,852 dunums. The approval process took place on 1,895 settlement units.

According to the Commission, during the past six months, the occupation army and settlers carried out about 9,700 attacks in the West Bank, of which 1,156 attacks were carried out by settlers, causing the death of 12 Palestinian citizens.

These attacks affected natural resources by destroying, uprooting and poisoning more than 9,600 trees, most of them olive trees.

The displacement in the West Bank affected 25 Palestinian Bedouin communities consisting of 220 families, including 1,277 individuals, who were forcibly transferred from their places of residence to other places.

The number of permanent and temporary checkpoints established in the West Bank, including military or dirt gates and barriers that divide the Palestinian territories and impose restrictions on the movement of individuals and goods, reached 840, including more than 140 gates that were established after the seventh of last October.

Violations of the right to education

According to a tally published by the Palestinian Ministry of Education, the number of student victims of the aggression reached 5,994 in the Gaza Strip, 56 in the West Bank, and 266 teachers were martyred in the Strip.

The toll showed that 9,890 students were infected in the Gaza Strip, and 329 in the West Bank, and 973 teachers and administrators were infected in Gaza, and 6 in the West Bank.

The occupation attacks affected 286 schools in Gaza and 64 in the West Bank, while 620,000 male and female students in the Gaza Strip continue to be deprived of education.

Prisoners and detainees

Since last October 7, at least 13 prisoners have been martyred in occupation prisons as a result of torture crimes, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club.

The arrests in 180 days affected about 8,000 Palestinians, and the number of those inside prisons exceeded the threshold of 9,100 detainees.

The club’s data as of March 31 indicates that the total number of arrests among women reached about 258, 500 among children, and 64 among journalists.

The number of administrative detention orders, which is detention without charge, trial, or time limit, exceeded more than 4,430 orders after the seventh of last October.

Economic losses

Estimates from the World Bank and the United Nations indicate that the cost of the damage caused by the Israeli aggression to vital infrastructure in the Gaza Strip is approximately $18.5 billion, equivalent to 97% of Palestine’s gross domestic product in 2022.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy, 29% of the economic establishments operating in the West Bank were completely or partially closed as a result of the occupation’s arbitrary measures, including the repeated raids on cities, the destruction of infrastructure, and the barriers it imposes that limit the freedom of movement of individuals and goods.

The Ministry estimates the value of the daily losses of the aggression as a result of the almost complete cessation of production in the Gaza Strip and its repercussions on the West Bank at approximately $25 million, not including direct losses in property and assets.
