"I look forward to all parties making more efforts to allow more Taiwanese youth to come to the mainland and witness the development and changes here." Chen Shufei, a Taiwanese youth currently studying at the School of Journalism and Communication of Jinan University, said in a recent interview with a reporter from China News Service.

In recent years, more and more Taiwanese young people studying and working in the mainland have gradually integrated into local life as they gain a deeper understanding of the mainland.

"Many Taiwanese young people have never been to the mainland and don't know how it is developing here." Guangzhou Entrepreneur Tai Qingbai Kailun said: "I often tell my Taiwanese friends that you should go out and see more. In fact, the development of the mainland is no longer what we imagined before. When Taiwanese friends come to Guangzhou, I will take them out to experience the city, and they will find that it is very different from what is described on Taiwanese social media."

Having been in Guangzhou for more than 6 years, Bai Kailun is currently a nutritionist and health manager. When I was invited by my partners to inspect the Greater Bay Area, I decided to start a business here in just 7 days. "There is a strong entrepreneurial atmosphere here, with many preferential policies, large market space, and friendly people. It is very suitable for starting a business." Today, his entrepreneurial projects have won many awards in various youth entrepreneurship competitions in Guangzhou.

After work, he explores local art galleries and museums, discovers the history and culture here, and observes the people here.

Since 2014, Guangdong has held the "Taiwan Youth Tour to Lingnan" series of activities for ten consecutive years to help Taiwanese youth have an in-depth understanding of and experience Lingnan's science and technology culture, humanities and history.

Chen Shufei, who participated in the event, said: "The most impressive thing is the Macao Return Memorial Hall, which contains handover gifts from various provinces (regions). Each one is exquisite and grand. I can feel everyone's affection for Macao's return. Enthusiasm, and I can feel that Macau takes this sincere emotion very seriously. I think this kind of feeling is two-way."

Liu Wanyu, president of the Guangdong Taiwanese Students Association, participated in the "Taiwan Youth Tour to Lingnan" twice. The first time she took the Hakka route, "Because my great-grandfather was from Xingning, Meizhou, it was very meaningful to have the opportunity to trace my roots, understand and understand the family history and the origin of Hakka culture." She recalled, the second time was the trip to Hong Kong and Macau, " After appreciating the rapid development and multiculturalism of Hong Kong and Macao after its return, I am very much looking forward to the results of cross-strait integrated development."

Liu Wanyu said that the best way to integrate when studying and living in mainland China is to make friends. “I have a very close classmate from Northeastern China. We often communicate together. When I come back from my hometown, she will bring me Harbin red sausage, and I also give it to me. She brings Taiwanese pineapple cakes, and we often meet up to explore Guangzhou cuisine.”

Liu Wanyu participated in many Taiwanese youth activities organized by the All-China Taiwan Federation, communicated with many mainland college students, and met more Taiwanese friends studying in the mainland.

In recent years, in order to continue to deepen youth exchanges between Guangzhou and Taiwan, Guangzhou has created various exchange brands and exchange bases. The first Guangzhou Taiwanese Youth Lingnan Cultural Instructor Competition held last year attracted nearly 4,000 Taiwanese youth in Guangzhou to participate in online training, and nearly 500 Taiwanese youth visited various exchange bases and exchange points with Taiwan to learn about Lingnan culture.

Huang Jingtang of Taiqing Youth League won the title of "Gold Medal Commentator" for his explanation of Lin Juemin's "Letter to His Wife" who participated in the Huanghuagang Uprising. He said that many of the stories and histories he read in textbooks when he was a child came from the mainland. When I came here, I felt moved that I was in a different time and space but standing on the same land as my ancestors.

Huang Jingtang is currently starting a business in Guangzhou, engaged in industries related to rural revitalization. “What I have particularly experienced in the past few years is that after the government issued policies to revitalize rural areas, all relevant units fully supported the development of enterprises and provided considerable resources and supporting support.”

Hong Zichao, a Taiwanese young man from Jinan University School of Medicine, is currently engaged in standardized training at the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University. "After completing my studies, I want to stay in the Greater Bay Area and become an ophthalmologist." In addition to his studies, he also served as a tour guide for Taiwanese students, and organized Lingnan trip for Taiwanese students, Intangible Cultural Heritage Tour and Root Searching, and Chinese Culture Festival organized by the school. In other activities, we constantly refresh our understanding of traditional culture. (over)
