In a conversation with journalists, Lavrov recalled that the “Zelensky formula” is an ultimatum demanding that Russia “surrender, capitulate, go to the 1991 borders.”

“True, Mr. Zelensky recently “kindly” said that we can start from the February 2022 border. Well, there’s no harm in dreaming,” the minister continued, as quoted by TASS.

Earlier, Zelensky said that peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine could begin without the Ukrainian state returning to the 1991 borders.

After that, he started talking about the country's borders for 2022. Commenting on his statement, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova suggested that Zelensky is nervous about possible elections in Ukraine.

The Kremlin also drew attention to the fact that the statements of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry about certain negotiations with Russia contradict the fact that Kyiv has officially banned dialogue with Moscow.
