“The crimes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the so-called volunteer battalions, have still not been investigated, including the terrible scene when 48 people were burned alive in the House of Trade Unions in Odessa. No investigation was carried out, it was all just in words,” Lavrov said.

He added that the Council of Europe's attempt to take control of the investigation had failed.

“No one was going to help this Council of Europe with anything, and it itself turned out to be powerless,” Lavrov said.

The tragedy in the House of Trade Unions in Odessa occurred on May 2, 2014. Then, as a result of a clash between supporters and opponents of the Euromaidan, pro-Ukrainian activists and nationalists destroyed the camp of anti-Maidan supporters on Kulikovo Pole Square.

The result of the conflict was the arson of the House of Trade Unions, where anti-Maidan supporters tried to take refuge. Many people were burned alive, some were poisoned by smoke. A total of 48 people died that day, 42 of whom were in the House of Trade Unions, and more than 250 were injured.
