“Europe's largest nuclear power plant has lost a key source of electricity it needs to cool its reactors and perform other critical nuclear safety and security functions. The events of this morning once again highlight the real danger that threatens this largest facility,” a statement on the organization’s website says.

On April 4, the backup high-voltage power supply line of 330 kV was switched off at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP).

It is emphasized that the background radiation at the station and the surrounding area has not changed and does not exceed natural background values.

Earlier, the representative of the UN Secretary General, Stephane Dujarric, said that the organization is extremely concerned about the current situation around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in Energodar.
