Spring breeds vitality, and green contains hope. On April 3, General Secretary Xi Jinping came to Tongzhou District, Beijing, where he shoveled soil, built cofferdams, carried water for irrigation, and planted many saplings one after another. This is the seventeenth consecutive year that he has participated in voluntary tree planting activities in the capital since he came to work for the central government.

No matter how busy you are, you will always find time, and even if it rains, you will come as promised. Over the years, the General Secretary has been working tirelessly to plant trees and greenery. In Tongzhou, Chaoyang, Daxing, Haidian, Fengtai, in the east, west, north and south of the capital, the saplings planted by the General Secretary are jointing upward, witnessing Beijing's green development path of "green screens in the mountains, green seas in the plains, and green views in the city" .

During this tree planting, the new seedlings that took root were full of the General Secretary’s expectations. What does the General Secretary look forward to more than just Beijing? Here, located in the sub-center of Beijing City and at the junction of Tongzhou and Beisan County of Langfang, Hebei Province, it is the first cross-border forest park jointly built by Beijing and Hebei on the Chaobai River.

The General Secretary is also looking forward to Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, which are moving towards green development.

Time continues, space expands, the ideas of green development are consistent, and the blueprint of green development gradually becomes a reality. During this voluntary tree planting, the General Secretary once again requested: "Actively participate in afforestation, everyone strives to be a green messenger and an ecological pioneer, add greenery to the construction of a beautiful China, and jointly write a new chapter of Chinese modernization in which man and nature coexist harmoniously."

The tree of hope grows little by little, and the green of the mountains and rivers is rendered little by little. If you are on the right path, don't be afraid of the distance. The key is to walk firmly every step of the way. With this tree planting, the General Secretary once again clarified the direction: "Greening the motherland requires simultaneous efforts to expand greening, develop greening, and protect greening."

The clear development path shows a problem-oriented approach -

"The problem of lack of forests and greenery in our country is still prominent", relying on "green expansion". How does green achieve “reasonable growth in volume”? In this regard, the General Secretary emphasized the word "science": "The right tree in the right place, the right method at the right time, plant a tree to survive, and create a patchwork." Seek truth from facts, adapt measures to local conditions, act according to rules, analyze specific problems in detail... These methodologies are often mentioned by the General Secretary.

"The role of forest 'treasure house' is not fully exerted", relying on "green development". Green development must also anchor “effective improvement in quality.” The General Secretary further explained: Promoting green means focusing on quality and efficiency, expanding the path for transforming green waters and green mountains into mountains of gold and silver, promoting better linkage of the forest's "reservoir, money bank, grain bank, and carbon bank" to achieve ecological and economic benefits. , social benefits are unified.

Expanding green, promoting green, and the "addition" of green development are not easy to achieve and deserve to be cherished. In addition to expanding and revitalizing greenery, the General Secretary also made clear requirements for "protecting greenery": "Strengthen the protection of forest and grassland resources, do a good job in fire prevention and extinguishing, carry out in-depth investigation and rectification of major hidden dangers, and protect the hard-won greening achievements." Coordinating development and security is something the General Secretary has repeatedly emphasized.

Regarding green development, the General Secretary looked at the problem with a question and also asked to work hard: "We must plant one crop after another, one generation after another, and continue to thicken our 'green family'."

A few years ago, General Secretary Xi Jinping had a story about trees when he visited Hainan. It was April 2022. During the inspection, the General Secretary got out of the car to inspect the coastal ecological environment protection work, and fertilized and watered an evergreen pine. And this tree was planted here in April 2010. Twelve years have passed by, and a tree has grown into lush leaves and branches when we meet again.

The General Secretary cherishes and protects every touch of green.
