Technology Duplicate WhatsApp photos in iOS 17.4: how to fix this error on the iPhone
Apple Mobiles will support direct downloading of apps from the web to iPhones
Traveling
abroad and coming across a text written in a language that you do not know can be a headache. Fortunately, new technologies are overcoming this problem. And as an example, this button: today it is enough to use the
iPhone
camera
to
translate
any
text
in real time
.
It doesn't matter if it is a document, a poster or a restaurant menu. And it doesn't matter whether it is written in English, German, Russian, Arabic or Mandarin Chinese. The tool that incorporates the
iOS
operating system detects and translates twenty languages instantly. In addition, it is capable of listening to both the original and the translated text, which allows you to learn basic notions of the unknown language.
The best thing about this technology, which until recently sounded like science fiction, is its ease of use. This is the
Translate app
, available in all versions of the iPhone operating system
since iOS 14
, but in
iOS 17
it has experienced a notable optimization of its functions.
How to translate text in real time with the iPhone camera
Open the Translate app on your iPhone.
Tap Camera.
Select the language of the original text and the language to which you want to translate it.
Position the iPhone in such a way that the rear camera picks up the text to be translated. Check that as you move the rear camera, the text is translated in real time.
Tap the circular button to pause the viewer once the translated text is obtained.
The user can enlarge the image to zoom in on the superimposed translations. Other actions can also be carried out, such as
copying the translated text
; add the translation to the
favorites list
(to, for example, store relevant information);
listen to the original text
or listen to the translated text or
share translation
, among others. Any of these options are executed intuitively through the icons that appear on the screen.
It is not necessary to always be focusing with the iPhone camera. The app also allows you to translate texts into photos
from the
device's photo library. You just have to select the photos icon and choose the photo from the photo library that contains the text in another language.
Other functions of the Translate app:
Voice Translation
– Quickly and easily translate your voice from one language to another. The app detects which of the two selected languages you are speaking and provides the translated text and corresponding audio in the other language.
Conversations
– In the Conversation tab, tap the microphone button to say something and automatic language detection will transcribe the original and translated text into chat bubbles on the correct side of the screen, followed by translated audio.
Dictionary
: Tap a word from a completed translation to see its definition in the built-in dictionary.
Languages available in the Translate app
The languages listed are supported by the latest operating system. Not all languages will be available on older operating systems.
